Kinect2Dance
is a school-based
program provider

Kinect2Dance is a school based program provider meaning all of our programs are designed specifically for schools, tested in schools and our wonderful teachers are trained to work with students from all walks of life.

We offer fully customised dance and fitness programs for primary and secondary schools across Australia. Our dance programs provide students the opportunity to participate in and learn a range of different dance styles within the comfort of their school environment. Our highly experienced instructors teach a variety of modern and traditional dances that encourage students to develop resilience, co-operation, mindfulness and confidence in fun and energetic dance lessons. Each Kinect2Dance program is fully customised to your school’s needs and fulfils the requirements of the dance component in your curriculum.

Socialisation, Fitness and Inclusion. We Make Learning Fun!

Our dance lessons will also teach your students the importance of teamwork, health & fitness, leadership and socialisation. We have watched the students that participate in our dance programs flourish whilst they explore and create in a continually evolving art form. Kinect2Dance can work with you towards achieving positive outcomes in Physical Education & Performing Arts, school concerts, discos, barn dance, dance showcases, graduation performances & much more.

Performing Arts Incursions

Inspiring Growth Through Performing Arts

At Kinect2Dance, we offer dynamic and engaging Performing Arts incursions, specialising in Dance and Production. Our programs are more than just dance lessons—they are designed to inspire resilience, self-expression, and personal growth in your students. We cater to schools with fully customised programs, ensuring every lesson aligns with your school’s unique goals, while also meeting curriculum requirements in both Performing Arts and Physical Education.

What we offer

Our lessons feature a wide variety of age-appropriate dance routines spanning a broad range of dance styles. Each program is specifically tailored to your school’s needs and can work towards various outcomes, such as:

  • School Concerts
  • Theatrical Productions
  • Discos and Graduations
  • Debutante Balls
  • Dance Showcases & Community events

No matter the event, our programs promote an alternative learning environment that encourages free physical expression while building respect and understanding between students and teachers.

Our teaching philosophy

At Kinect2Dance, we believe that dance is a tool for building resilience and self-confidence. Our approach goes beyond teaching choreography; we foster a culture of accepting mistakes and growing from them. We understand that, just like in the classroom, students will occasionally miss a step or make an error. Rather than focusing on perfection, we encourage students to embrace these moments as part of their journey toward self-awareness and social acceptance.

By cultivating a “give it a go” attitude, we teach students to develop persistence, overcome challenges, and work collaboratively in a supportive environment. This process promotes both individual growth and community building within the classroom.

Foundation - 2

These dance sessions run for 40mins – 45mins depending on bell times. A focus on fine motor skills, team work and co-operation, communication and language development, fitness, memory skills and fun!

Years 3 - 6

These dance sessions run from 40min – 60mins depending on bell times. Choreography is age appropriate and sometimes a little challenging for older year levels to stimulate students and keep them engaged. Larger focus on communication, acceptance and resilience through partner dancing with lessons structured around whole group participation and whole group team work.

Curriculum Integration

Our dance programs are carefully designed to meet the educational outcomes outlined in both the Performing Arts and Physical Education curriculums. This ensures that while students are enjoying the freedom of creative expression, they are also fulfilling key learning objectives.

Why Choose Kinect?

Our programs are tailored to suit the needs of your school, and your satisfaction is our mission. We are committed to providing an exciting, positive, and inclusive experience where students can express themselves, grow, and celebrate their unique talents.

Meet Bree Shaw

Founding director Bree Shaw has a lifetimes experience in dance, and more than 13 years experience teaching in schools. Bree brings her love and passion of dance to children from all walks of life.

From a coastal suburb on the Mornington Peninsula Kinect2Dance was born and developed to offer students in Victorian schools the opportunity to explore dance in a safe and inclusive environment alongside their peers. Since 2017 Kinect has expanded across the country and now offers a range of programs focussing on movement-based learning (kinesthetic.) Bree’s philosophy as a teacher, which is now the philosophy of Kinect, is allowing students the freedom of physical expression with no boundaries.

Bree says “To build students’ confidence and resilience in schools, children need to be given the opportunity to learn without ‘right or wrong’. A number of school subjects have to be learnt or taught a particular way in order for that question or answer to be correct ( 2 + 2 must equal 4). The beauty of the Arts, and Dance, is that it is completely open to interpretation therefore the simple act of ‘giving it a go’ means success for that student. The power is positivity in education is boundless.”

Meet Kyle Broomfield

Kyle is a dynamic dance educator and choreographer based in Melbourne, who brings an infectious passion for dance to his role as Head of Dance Programs at Kinect2Dance. Since joining the team in 2022, Kyle has been instrumental in expanding the reach of Kinect2Dance’s programs across Victoria, engaging students from diverse backgrounds and helping them build confidence, creativity, and self-expression through dance.

A graduate of Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, Kyle’s performance experience includes high-profile credits like Tones & I, Peppa Pig, the AFL Grand Final Footy Show, Mad Max (White Night), Australia’s Got Talent, and KIIS FM. But his true calling lies in teaching, where his love for dance and education intersects. At Kinect2Dance, Kyle has spearheaded new initiatives that focus on inclusive, child-centered learning, ensuring every student feels empowered to ‘give it a go,’ regardless of their previous experience.

Kyle holds a Diploma in Elite Performance, a Certificate in Dance Teaching and Management, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education. Kyle continues to inspire students and schools across Victoria, helping young people unlock their full potential through movement and creativity.

Outside the classroom, Kyle’s love for dance is matched by his enthusiasm for Taylor Swift and his fondness for all things pink!
